Nipsey Hussle had nothing but love for his community of South Los Angeles, and now an intersection in the neighborhood will be named in honor of the slain rapper.
Los Angeles City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson made the announcement on April 9 that the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and West Slauson Avenue will now be known as Ermias “Nipsey Hussle” Asghedom Square, reports the Los Angeles Times.
This is after over 500,000 fans and community members signed a petition to have the intersection re-named.
Hussle didn’t just rep his community in his music, he gave back by reinvesting in the neighborhood, opening several businesses including the popular Marathon Clothing store, which often hired ex-felons because of the difficulty they face finding employment.
The announcement about the street naming came days before Hussle’s homegoing at the Staples Center on Thursday April 11th.
The marathon continues, forever.
